Recently I was on base to photograph a former NASA engineer who is now working with United Launch Alliance. While on base they were nice enough to give us a tour of some of the older launch pads that were used over the course of the U.S. space program. Being a bit of a science geek all my life NASA has always held a place in my mind. The ideas of exploration and adventure that it has conjured in me has been the source of countless daydreams. Over the years working as a journalist, the only media credential I have kept was my Nasa STS-131 badge. Even though that launch was postponed and I could stay to cover it, the experience is one that I still remember fondly.

New job, new city- time to restart this blog. This will be a place where I explore and work out details of personal photography projects. The above photos are of "Little Jake" Mitchell. A music legend and Gainesville native. Mitchell toured as a teenager and opened for performers such as Sam Cook, James Brown and B.B. King. Mitchell is also credited as being instrumental in integrating the homecoming celebrations at the University of Florida in 1960.
